Project: Resilient Borders: Advancing Climate Adaptation, Peace, Livelihoods, and Preparedness (RECAP)
Location: Moyale and Sololo, Marsabit County
Duration: 12 months (renewable based on performance, project needs and availability of funds)

Background of the Project
HODI, in partnership with VSO and CDG, and with funding from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), is implementing the RECAP cross-border project to strengthen climate resilience, livelihoods, peacebuilding, and crisis preparedness among communities living along the Kenya and Ethiopia border.
The project builds on the previous IPDHE project implemented between 2022 and 2025.
Role Purpose
The RECAP Project Assistant (Volunteer) will support the RECAP Project Officer in the implementation of project activities at all levels, working closely with local structures, community members, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support community mobilisation and participation in project activities
- Support in the preparation of project activity reports
- Assist in data collection, monitoring, and community-level reporting
- Support implementation of community action plans and local initiatives
- Promote inclusion of women, youth, persons with disabilities and others living on the margin
- Support coordination with local leaders, committees, and stakeholders
- Promote conflict-sensitive approaches and community cohesion
- Uphold safeguarding, accountability, and “do no harm” principles in all activities
Minimum Requirements and Qualification
- Resident of Moyale or Sololo
- Degree in Community Development or related field.
- Experience in community work, peacebuilding, or development initiatives
- Ability to speak one of the local languages spoken in the project locations
- Willingness to travel frequently and work in remote settings
- Strong affinity for community service and volunteerism
